Kirk started as employee #1 as a lowly temporary co-op, while working on his Masters degree. In this role, Kirk received much abuse and numerous injuries due to his Neil Young impersonations and “dive right in” attitude. (Why do they put all these sharp edges on the safety cabinet?) After achieving his degree, specializing in digital signal processing, he left ComNav and worked in a large engineering company, living in the large blue cubicle sea. He spent a year picking his belly button lint, and missed the silliness of ComNav, so he returned to become our Engineering Manager. After another 2 years at ComNav, Kirk applied for and received a fellowship at Purdue University to complete his Ph. D. Upon completion of his dissertation on atmospheric light transport, Kirk again missed the silliness of ComNav. This time he returns as a freshly minted Ph. D. and takes over the role of Vice President. We are lucky to have Kirk back, and he is now deeply involved in charting the future of ComNav and its product offerings.
